You can drive the Causeway Coastal Route which is very picturesque, or if you’re looking for unique day trip, look no further than The Gobbins Cliff Path Walk. Some of our guests would plan to do this either on the way to Ballycastle or on the route home. It first opened way back in 1902 and it was originally aimed at Edwardian thrill-seekers that wanted to experience a chunk of Ireland’s most dramatic coastline up close. 1. Location You’ll find The Gobbins Visitor Centre in Islandmagee on the Causeway Coastal Route. It’s 48 miles from Puffins Perch 2. Opening hours The Gobbins Walk is open from 08:30 to 17:00 daily (make sure to book in advance and arrive 15 minutes before your tour). You’ll find parking at the Visitor Centre. 3. Admission / ticket prices check online for up to date details 4. Decent fitness needed The Gobbins Walk is a long hard slog and moderate fitness and good mobility levels are needed. The path stretches for 3 miles/5km and is the equivalent of going up and down 50 flights of stairs.

The Gobbins Cliff Path is a unique attraction built in a beautiful but isolated location. When the cliff path was first constructed in Islandmagee, on the Co. Antrim coastline at the turn of the 20th Century it was billed as having ‘no parallel in Europe as a marine cliff walk’. And the path now, reimagined, still delivers a thrilling experience. It is located in Islandmagee, an approximate 23 miles from Lisowen House. The drive there itself along the A2 Coast Road is thoroughly beautiful and perfectly relaxing in advance of the 2.5 hour guided walking tour of The Gobbins! Please be advised this tour must be booked in advance! This can be completed online ... just google The Gobbins Cliff Walk. The Gobbins is close to the town of Whitehead - a typically Victorian village (although it is classed as a town!) Have a walk along the shore to enjoy the brightly painted houses and perhaps enjoy coffee or lunch in one of the local eateries or in the Whitehead Golf Club Restaurant- you don’t need to be a member to enjoy a meal here!! The food is great, reasonably priced and offers beautiful views over the coast and golf course!

Hanging from basalt cliffs directly over the Irish Sea, The Gobbins cliff path is an Edwardian labour of love. Designed by the railway engineer Berkeley Deane Wise in 1902, The Gobbins closed in 1954 when the depression of the 1930s and lack of materials post-World War II caught up with this one-of-a-kind visitor experience. But after extensive renovations, The Gobbins opened again, and it’s a hugely popular stop along the stunning Causeway Coastal Route. On the Walking the Edge tour, you’ll find yourself standing on steel bridges above the churning waves, running your hand along the cool stone of the cliff face and enjoying up-close views of The Gobbins many sea birds.
