Everyday at noon, 12:00 o' clock, the lyric "Ave Maria" play and statues from the clock tower are moving around it. it is very heartfelt feeling, goosebumps are very likely.

The Messina astronomical clock, part of the city's cathedral, was built by the Ungerer company of Strasbourg in 1933. It is integrated into the church tower (rebuilt at the beginning of the century after the earthquake), of which it is the most characteristic element.

The Protomotive Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta or Cathedral of Messina, is the mother church and cathedral of the archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela. It rises in the historic center of Messina, with the facade and the bell tower overlooking the large Piazza del Duomo.

The Cathedral (12th century), containing the remains of king Conrad, ruler of Germany and Sicily in the 13th century. The building had to be rebuilt in 1919-1920, following the devastaving earthquake.
