Over thousands of years, the Aare River eroded a path through this rock formation resulting in a gorge which is 1’400 metres long and up to 200 metres deep. This gorge has been accessible for over 100 years by a system of safe paths and tunnels. The walk through the gorge is a very special way to experience nature.
Amazing walk through the gorge: witness the power of water first-hand. Closed in the winter months.
Refreshing, mystic, precious. The Aare Gorge formed over thousands of years by the Aare Glacier. Quiet splashing, loud roaring, glacial water, glacial mills, limestone formations. Discover, feel, and experience a natural wonder up close. Safely experience geology and glaciology through tunnels and over footbridges.
