The preserve includes 84 acres on Kiket Island and Flagstaff Point and 9 acres on Fidaglo Island. Believed to be the first park in the United States to be co-owned and managed by a tribe (Swinomish) and another government, management of the area focuses on conservation and research, public education and limited recreational use, including hiking.
Wonderful walk and beach along Snee Oosh Road in La Conner. Sacred Swinomish tribal land. Dogs are NOT welcome.
Co Managed by the Swinomish Tribe and State Parks this historic location was proposed to be a nuclear power plant in the 1970"s. Local opposition and philanthropic donors thwarted the plan. Great hike for those will to get out an about.
