Join me for a circular walk on Mam Tor - The Mother Hill
We will firstly meet at Odins cave the oldest documented mine in Derbyshire and is thought to be the oldest lead mine in England. This is a great starting point for our circular walk which will take us along the A625 road that was abandoned in the 70’s due to mining and the land slide.
This walk is one of the most popular routes in the peak district National Park where we will overlook the stunning Hope Valley on one side and the whole of Edale, Kinder Scout to the Derwent moors on the other.
Throughout our hike and upon reaching the summit there will be opportunities for videos, photographs and rest stops. We then continue along the great ridge through the area known as Hollins cross. These paths are located at the junction from Mam Tor crossing from Edale to Castleton. At this point we will continue along to Back Tor finally descending into the beautiful village of Castleton.
Here in Castleton you will have up to an hour to take in the unique atmosphere and enjoy the numerous cafés, tea rooms and pubs before heading off back to our starting point which will take around 30 minutes. All in all our walk should take around 4 hours. It would be lovely to have you join me to enjoy this walk as much as I have over the last 10 years. When we have finished our day together, please share your experiences gained today.
There is also a shorter version of this walk on my page.
